A prominent sponge iron manufacturer in Southern India was over-reliant on the volatile imported coal market, facing two persistent operational hurdles: high procurement costs due to import price volatility, and significant "fines" (dust) generation during the long transit process — resulting in material loss and uneven temperature distribution within their kilns.

Our Intervention

Nexux implemented a strategic supply of 4800 ARB coal with a guaranteed 40% Fixed Carbon, specifically selected for its blending compatibility with the client's existing imported stocks. To solve the fines problem, we committed to a rigorous physical guarantee: 90% of every shipment maintained within a 10–60 mm size range. This precision ensured optimal gas permeability in the kiln and eliminated the lost value previously seen with high-fines imports.
